The installation meeting of Semper Sursum Lodge No 5622 welcomed Robert Wright as their principal guest. Not only is Robert an Assistant Provincial Grand Master but he is the present Senior Grand Deacon of United Grand Lodge.

Robert was accompanied by five Grand Officers and seven provincial acting officers.

It was a superb ceremony which saw Alan Tomlinson discharge his final duty as WM with great aplomb as he installed Colin Taylor.

Robert was called upon to sing for his supper and orate the address to the Brethren. The address to the new WM was given by Bill Merewood and that to the wardens by Peter Schofield. Group officers Kieron Mullan and Ken Robinson were on hand to address, respectively, the almoner and mentors as to their duties.

Provincial Grand Steward Chris Gray undertook the responsibility of instructing the stewards as to their duties.

As always it was a great pleasure to witness the working tools being presented in an excellent manner by three relatively junior Brethren in the persons of Daniel Leitch, David Shaw and Michael Younger.

To mark the occasion Colin presented Robert with two cheques. The first for £600 in favour of the MCF 2021 Festival and the second for £964 towards the hall building fund.

Following the formalities an excellent meal was enjoyed in the Fairfield. Jack Fawcett was once again called upon to perform the “Master’s Song” which was enjoyed by all present.

A raffle at the installation banquet realised £715 for the building fund.
