Spreading the word

John Wood, a Companion of Alnwick Royal Arch Chapter No1167 in Northumberland, is a frequent visitor to the Furness and South Lakeland area when he visits his brother Keith who is member of Abbey Chapter No 1225.

During one of the visits John and Keith visited Grange Chapter No 1715 on the occasion of an exaltation ceremony when the enhanced ritual was practiced.

So impressed was John that he arranged for members of Grange Chapter to visit the province of Northumberland and give a demonstration of the ceremony at his chapter.

Grange members, Bob McMillan, Scott McMillan, Nigel Higginson and David Jopling were amongst those making the journey to the north east undertook the principal roles during the demonstration. It was to the high standard you would expect from Companions so well versed in our ritual.

It was exceedingly well received. No doubt it will cause some discussion and consideration amongst the Northumberland Companions.

Following the ceremony there was an opportunity to mingle and discuss the ceremony further whilst waiting for dinner.

During the formal toasts fulsome praise was heaped upon the demonstration team. It was also commented that this variation to the traditional ceremony had proved both enlightening and thought provoking to even the most experienced of the Companions.
