Hindpool Lodge was consecrated in 1868 and is the second senior Lodge of the Barrow Sister Lodges, and third oldest in the Furness and South Lakeland Group. The Lodge meets on the third Tuesday of each month, except June and July, with the Installation Meeting in September, at the Masonic Hall, Fairfield Lane, Barrow in Furness, Cumbria, LA13 9AL, at 7.15 pm.
Masonic visitors are always welcome at our ceremonies and festive occasions; usually without the need to pre-book a meal (although larger parties of visitors please notify the Secretary in advance).
Membership is open to all men of good character who are over the age of 21-years, proposed and seconded by members
of the Lodge and approved in Open Lodge. Any member of the Lodge (or any Freemason) will gladly explain the aims and responsibilities of Freemasonry in general terms, with charitable works underpinning the organisation. It has been said many times that Freemasonry is NOT a secret society; merely a society that chooses to maintain its modes of recognition secret and keep some mystique for those who wish to join.
The Lodge enjoys the use of a splendid building in the Masonic Hall, providing Lodge and Chapter rooms, banqueting rooms and ample cloakroom and parking facilities. This enables the social side of Freemasonry, largely open to non-Masonic visitors, to thrive.
