F&SL at Blackpool

A good number of Brethren from the Furness and South Lakeland group made the journey to Blackpool Winter Gardens for the meeting of Provincial Grand Lodge.

For the first time the meeting was held in the Opera House. There were over 1,500 Brethren present with the dining afterwards in the Empress Ballroom seeing 500 Masons sit down to dine.

A number had ventured to the Fylde coast to be appointed or promoted to Provincial Grand rank, others had travelled in support of them and some had simply gone along to enjoy the day.

The only real downside to the day was for those who choose to stay overnight, and contribute to the Blackpool hospitality economy, was that it turned out to be the quietest night of the week in the town with many venues closed.
